Flight 93

Interesting report surfaced about Flight 93… wonder how long until people sue the federal government claiming the FBI made it up.

Zend Optimizer

Trying to get Zend Optimizer running successfully. So far no success. Will try again tomorrow with a clean installation of PHP. Perhaps that was the problem.

Can’t find reports of it working, or not working, so I will assume the best.

I’m sooooooo tired

I’m so tired, I haven’t slept a wink
I’m so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No,no,no.

I’m so tired I don’t know what to do
I’m so tired my mind is set on you
I wonder should I call you but I know what you’d do

You’d say I’m putting you on
But it’s no joke, it’s doing me harm
You know I can’t sleep, I can’t stop my brain
You know it’s three weeks, I’m going insane
You know I’d give you everything I’ve got
for a little peace of mind

I’m so tired, I’m feeling so upset
Although I’m so tired I’ll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh
He was such a stupid get.
– John Lennon

Me tired… need sleep

Programming Web Development

Neet little effect and other html related goodness.

This little effect seems pretty cool. I think I’m going to have to try implementing it on the new design soon.

So far all is well with the new design. Tested in the following browsers:

  • IE 5.5 Windows
  • IE 6 Windows
  • IE 5 Mac
  • Netscape 4 Mac
  • Netscape 4 Windows
  • Mozilla 1.x/Derivatives
  • Safari
  • OmniWeb
  • iCab
  • Opera

All browsers render the site properly. Amazing what some valid HTML does.

Over the next few days I will try and consolidate some code a bit, as well as implement the design on the remaining pages.

IBM Access Connections

For those without Macs. IBM’s Access Connections is what makes Thinkpads feel a bit Mac like.

It allows the computer to change network configs real nice and quick. Kind of like Location manager. Also is capable of automatically finding your network between multiple network adapters. Much more mac like than Windows XP is by default.

Not quite OS X, but it saves me a TON of time.

WiFi is sweet. Perhaps one day I shall document a bit more of good home networking.

Web Panels

Asa’s got some cool screenshots on webpanels for firebird posted

Can’t wait to get my hands on those.

Sidenote: Seem to be linking to Asa quite a bit. Good blog, and of course he’s great at informing the Mozilla community about what’s going on. Thanks Asa!

Down in Baltimore

Down in Baltimore Inner Harbor yesterday. Boston Red Sox got the asses handed to them by the Orioles. The Red Sox were staying in the same Hotel as I was. Feel dirty. Need a shower.

There were tons of sox fans there. So loud in the beginning…. surprising how quiet they were after the 7th inning. Guess they couldn’t figure out how to get their heads out from between their legs.

iTunes for Windows

Looks like Apple still plans to release iTunes for Windows by the end of the year.

Not bad. I would have thought it slipped to early next year. I’m still wondering what the UI will be like. A smoother OS X like port… or a Windows implementation of the Apple Service?

Mozilla Notes

Been a few days since my last Mozilla related post….

Some great info posted here regarding a neat little easter egg that’s been around for ages. Sure wondering what will be in upcoming Mozilla/Firebird releases.

Asa Dotzler wrote a bombshell on the OS X Browser Market. A real good read if there is anyone who hasn’t read it already.

Lastly my marketing.mozilla.org meta bug has gotten some traffic, but could use more!

Also, still looking for more web badges for Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird. Contribute!!!
