Firefox in the top 10

CNet’s download.com posted their Top 10 downloads of the last 10 years. What’s really impressive is that most programs on that list have been around well over a year. Some are around for several years. Firefox really hit 1.0 in November. Making it one (if not the) newest on the list. Quite an impressive showing.

I agree that this is an impressive stat indeed, but we must remember that Firefox was available for download on CNet long before 1.0, and was most likely downloaded many, many times before November. One fact that does make the accomplishment more impressive is that I doubt that CNet’s stats include downloads from http://ftp.m.o, and we know that there have been a lot of downloads from there. (I don’t know how many of the other pieces of software on the list have their own independent ftp servers)
