		<description>Google has already been in communication with the WHATWG about Gears and is working to try and get it standardized in exactly the way you suggest.

Still, ad hoc standardization is faster, easier, and nonblocking to formal standardization.  So I see no downside to releasing Gears as-is.  This way field testing will help inform the implementation before it&#039;s enshrined in a standard.</description>
