Dual boot is very easily possible using any standard bootloader to chainload the MacOSX partition.

I like the idea of an IFSD for windows as i have a dual boot setup (ubuntu/winXPpro) and i would love to free up space by removing a fat32 partition even at a price!!

Instead of needlessly duplicating work, Apple should just adopt ext3 and/or ReiserFS. ReiserFS, in particular, has much better answers to metadata storage than anything Apple has cooked up today. And there is a strong push for installable Windows filesystem drivers for ext3 and ReiserFS, something Apple could contribute to and make happen.

With HFS+ and their own metadata initiative, Apple is becoming less and less compatible with the UNIX world, and they are wasting a lot of in-house development resources that could be better spent elsewhere.
